The Anglican-Lutheran agreement of partnership in signed
At the conclusion of the Jerusalem Summit which was held 31 October-November 1, 2015, of conservative apostolic and convergence churches between an Orthodox Anglican Community uniting conservative Anglican parishes in the United States in Asia and Africa, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Augsburg Confession in Russia, an agreement on friendship and cooperation was signed.
The document proclaims Jesus Christ the center of faith and the need of aspiration to Christian unity, it proclaims unity in the Eucharist, prayerful life and commission of various church services.
The parties agree to work together on questions that may arise representing mutual interest in social and theological areas and to carry out joint programs for strengthening of family life and other Christian relations. Also to provide mutual support in educational services and theological education (for example, by means of an student exchange and employees in concrete area of training, mutual visits, publications of scholar works relating to modern subjects and theological questions).
The signed documents state that the ministers and members of both churches are to participate in joint prayer, including: conduct joint seminars, joint information programs, invite teachers and preachers to the ministers and members of both churches to participate in joint worship for the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and carry out the sacraments, to collaborate to strengthen interdenominational relations and promote Inter-church dialogue in particular, through the advice of churches and the Conference of Bishops.
The parties invite other brotherly churches to join in partnership between the churches.
Orthodox Anglican Communion represents more than 500,000 members in the United States, Asia and Africa.
Orthodox Anglican Communion agreement was signed by the Archbishop of Orthodox Anglican Church, the metropolitan of Orthodox Anglican community Thomas Gordon (Thomas E. Gordon, Presiding Bishop of the Orthodox Anglican Church and Metropolitan Archbishop of the Orthodox Anglican Communion) and
Konstantin Andreev, the Presiding bishop of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Augsburg confession in Russia. The signatures and the seals on the Agreement was also witnessed and signed by regional bishops of ELC AC Pavel Levushkan, Igor Knyazev, Alexander Franz and Anatoly Malakhov.
The agreement was concured by commission of joint Eucharist with Anglican rank which was carried out by the Archbishop Thomas Gordon in concelebration with bishops of ELC AC
